Commemoration of international day of peace keepers
UNPKFC organized the Virtual Global Conference commemorating the International Day of UN Peace Keepers on Zoom Media, on 29 May 2021 from 20:00 to 23:00 Thailand Local Time.
This Virtual Conference was participated by a total of 30 world renowned Keynote and Plenary Speakers from the field of Peace Keeping, Governmental Agencies, Heads of Non Governmental Organization, Scientist, scholars, Humanitarian and Peace Activist. The Theme for this year’s commemoration was “The Road to Lasting Peace; Leveraging the Power of Youth in Peace and Security “.
Datu Dr. Aphinita Chaichana as Head and Founder of UNPKFC gave the Presidential Address and welcome all Speakers, dignitaries, participants and paid tribute to all the fallen Peace Keepers that gave their lives protecting the world.
H. E. Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri, the acting Commissioner of UN Police (UNPOL) at the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), gave the Opening Address, while H.E. Mr. Sonthornchai Jayangkula, the Secretariat to the Cabinet, Prime Minister Office of Thailand gave the Keynote Speech.
H.E. Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations expressed express his deep gratitude to the 85,000 civilian, police and military personnel currently deployed in some of the world’s most challenging hotspots to protect the vulnerable and help to build peace. Despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, as well as the risk of infection, these men and women have pursued their mission while also supporting local authorities in the fight against COVID-19. He further offered his sincere condolences to the families of peacekeepers who have fallen victim to this terrible disease.
During the Conference, video clips of the wreath-laying ceremony which took place at the National Memorial, Bangkok Thailand to mark the International Day of UN Peacekeepers was shown, as well as Video clips produced by the school students depicting the youths engagement in Peace as part of the Video clips competition.
UNPKFC Arts & Video Clips competition attracted a total of 156 entries from schools in Asia and Europe. The 5 Winners are Ms. Mariam Ksovreli from Georgia, Ms. Maitreyee Bhurle from India, Mr. Mukta Vaibhav from India, Ms. Kaewtip Kaewtanong from Thailand and Ms. Jasleen Kaur from India.
The Best Video Clips was won by Ms. Ani Kurdadze from AIA-GESS Georgia while Mr. Nicholai Aliakseyev Boonnon from Russia took the second place.
UNPKFC is indeed fortunate to have the service of Mr. Woong Tae Ryu, a Radio Broadcaster at GFN, Gwangju, South Korea as Moderator who did a fabulous and wonderful job keeping the virtual event lively.
