King Chulalongkorn Day (Piya Maharaj Day)
23rd October
Chulalongkorn day commemorates the passing of King Chulalongkorn on 23rd October, 1910. The King is known for his great achievements which include, for examples, the abolition of slavery, establishment of state railway, and administration of social and political reforms in Thailand.
He is also known in Thai as ‘Phra Piya Maharaj,’ meaning the ‘Great Beloved King.’
