Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN), a leading international youth diplomacy platform, officially opened its conference in Bangkok at Ballroom 2, Shangri-La Hotel.
The event was organized by Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN), with the United Peace Keepers Federal Council (UNPKFC) participating as a strategic partner, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing education, youth empowerment, and sustainable peace on the global stage.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Aphinita Chaichana,Global President of the United Peace Keepers Federal Council (UNPKFC), was honored to deliver the welcome opening address to delegates, youth participants, and representatives from more than 120 countries worldwide.
In her remarks, she emphasized the vital role of education as a foundation for peace, international cooperation, and sustainable development, underscoring the importance of empowering youth as the “hope of the world” under the principle of Leaving No One Behind.
A highlight of the opening ceremony was a Thai cultural performance presented by 14 Youth Cultural Volunteer Ambassadors of UNPKFC, featuring the classical Khon performance “The Battle Scene of Thotsakan (Tosakanth)”. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the performance showcased Thailand’s rich cultural identity, artistic excellence, and the dynamic role of Thai youth as cultural ambassadors to the international community.
Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) serves as a global learning platform for diplomacy and leadership, engaging youth from diverse nations through the Montessori educational philosophy.
The program emphasizes critical thinking, constructive negotiation, cross-cultural understanding, and a strong sense of global citizenship, while actively supporting the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
MMUN is also an internationally recognized youth education organization holding Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
This status reflects MMUN’s credibility, institutional strength, and its recognized role in promoting meaningful youth participation in addressing global challenges.
The founding leadership and core team of MMUN include Ms. Judith Cunningham, H.E. Ambassador Francis Lorenzo, Mr. Michael Jacobson, Mr. Gabriel Forestieri, and Mr. Raphael Forestieri, who collectively serve as key driving forces in shaping the organization’s vision, strategic direction, and long-term mission to advance global education and youth leadership.
